The NAMA legislation has been in the public domain for a number of months now. During that time there has been much debate and media comment, both positive and negative.
The first batch of qualifying loans is now being transferred to NAMA. This batch comprises the top ten borrowers from the qualifying banks. It is anticipated the next fifty or so large borrowers will be transferred between April and the end of July. Read more...
For 2008 and 2009 there was a limit in place on the amount of tax free income from patent royalties and other tax incentive schemes that, in total, could be exempt from income tax. Income in excess of the €250,000 exemption cap was taxed at normal rates, i.e. excess over €250,000 was taxed at the marginal rate, i.e. 41%. Read more...
Finance Bill 2010 was published on 5 February 2010. The Finance Bill legislates for the tax changes announced by the Minister for Finance on his December 2009 budget.
The Bill contains a significant number of technical amendments to the tax code. Most of these were specified in the initial speech given by Minister in December 2009. The Bill contains several initiatives to improve Ireland’s competitive position vis a vis our international competitors. Read more...
